My daughter was born in this hospital almost 24 years ago and I must say nothing has changed, they have the same wonderful care and treatment, the hospital is clean and well run, everywhere you go the staff know exactly what they are doing, really professional. They also have the best doctors in and around the hospital and there is plenty of parking.

I was born in Parklands 23 years ago and what my Mom told me about the hospital it seems like nothing has changed. They have fantastic facilities, the best doctors, clean corridors, clean wards and the quality of treatment by the various professionals is simply the best. I cannot complain about this hospital at all.

My only child was born at this hospital 15 years ago. My experience was awesome. Parklands Hospital still till today still upholds its name as I have heard many compliments and praises about them and I am not surprised as they are tops. Will recommend them all the way.

One of the best hospitals in Durban, situated in Overport it is easy to get to and the hospital itself is clean, the staff are helpful and the doctors are some of the best and most qualified you will get. The maternity ward is excellent, giving mothers all the attention and help they need. When my daughter had her baby they allowed us in at 4.30 in the morning to get a first glance at our grandchild, they very discretely looked the other way. The general wards are well looked after, clean and the food is really good.

Whilst living in Richardsbay my son was referred to a Durban specialist who was practising at Netcare Parklands Hospital as he had to undergo a major procedure.

I found it was a very long wait for my son to be admitted and felt that this was unnecessary as he was already stressed. The admitting personnel were not very efficient and a bit rude.

Once we were assigned to a ward we had to wait for the porter to come and escort us to the ward. He was very helpful and super friendly, at the ward the nurse came and did all the vitals and pre op checks. The nurse was very caring and reassuring that all will be well with the procedure as I was frantic.

Due to the fact that my son was the youngest patient on the list he was first on the theatre roll, it wasn’t a long wait until the operating theatre nurses came to wheel him away. I was very pleased by the way the theatre staff treated my son as I explained that he cannot talk and cannot walk so they promised to take extra care of him.

I was allowed into theatre until the Anaesthetist administered the sleeping gas. I was asked to leave once he was fast asleep and proceeded to the waiting room. It was a very long and stressful four hour wait until the theatre nurse came and called me as my son was crying for me.
Due to the extent of the operation done my son was required to stay in hospital for 2 nights and the hospital was kind enough to settle us in a private ward. I was offered meals at a minimal charge and was quiet impressed.

Due to the procedure my son had it required me to get trained on how to tube feed him as he would never eat solid food via his mouth ever again. The nurses were very patient and reassuring as I was a nervous and worried mommy.
On day 3 doctor came and discharged my son from hospital and we were on the long road back to Richardsbay. My overall experience of Parklands Hospital was pleasant, Doctors and nursing staff accommodating. I will have no trouble recommending this hospital to anyone considering to have a procedure done.

My son

Given birth to my son @ Parklands Hospital ... This hospital will always have a special place in my heart.

I vistited the hospital as an out-patient. My experince was very brief. I found that the renovatiosn were quite annoying and messy, but I guess this would be the same anywhere. I also found parking quite a hassle.
