Marianhill Monastery in Durban
Tea at the Monastery! The Marianhill Monastery is located in Marianhill on the outskirts of Pinetown. The monastery was founded by Trappist monks in 1882 as a Catholic Mission and now boasts an impressive display of architecture and design. Beautiful frescos adorn the cathedral ceiling and light streams through stained glass windows.

My gran would always bring me back Rye bread from here for as long as I can remember. Their tea garden is widely known to be the best and there is a lovely shop with Christian goodies of every kind that you can imagine. Very tranquil and relaxing place to visit. I highly enjoy going for a cup of tea so if your in the area definitely pop in.

What a nice place to visit if you are looking for something to do. Not sure if they sell milk anymore but I used to go and get milk from the monastery and yoghurt. In fact have a friend that works there too. They sell nice beadwork items and it is a quite relaxing place to go to.

I can remember going here as a child. Being Catholic myself I would love to go here again. I will write a proper review once i go but for now and what i remember is that it was a very peaceful place. with things for kids to do and a nice picnic spot.
