I had a caramel Frappuccino and it was amazing. Cappuccino isn't too great though.

After all the hype ... I would still pick various other local coffee shops over Starbucks. Nothing wrong but nothing too great either. Hot chocolate was good, wasn't impressed by the service.

Starbucks for what
So our first impression of Starbucks was not a great one, only because the service left much to be desired. The décor was lovely with a massive copper mural at the back of the restaurant which was very interesting. Lovely light wooden décor which gives the whole area a more open feel. The coffee was not great but the eats made up for it. Starbucks, we have been spoilt overseas at Starbucks - you are going to have to do a lot better than allowing people to wait in queues that lead out of your front door if you expect them to return.

On Saturday I visited Starbucks for the second time. I just feel they are doing something wrong one queues forever only to stand in another queue to receive your drink!! Yowzit kindly invited us and I felt so sorry for Raeesa who stood in the queue for over an hour. They need to look at Seattle as one never queues and they seem to have a system that works. Felt the drinks were weak!!! Not sure I will visit again unless they jack themselves up!!!

My first South African Starbucks experience was an interesting one! Company was excellent, lovely interior design, coffee was good - but it took over an hour to get our coffees!

Good coffee but that a !
Yowzit very kindly invited a number of reviewers to the new Starbucks in Rosebank this afternoon. My first impression was one of disappointment at how poorly it was signed. I suppose I was expecting the great big green Srarbucks logos outside like you find in the States or the Far East. Raeesa, from Yowzit, stood in the queue for over an hour to collect our coffee!! The muffins were beautifully fresh and soft. Very nice decor inside. Either a big shortage of staff or lack of staff training but waiting an hour for a coffee is not good. Until I hear more favourable comments I certainly will not return.

Lots of room for improvement!!
So on a cold and wet Sunday morning, we decided to take the plunge (er?) and try our first South African Starbucks. With the outlet having been open for some weeks, being early, and wet and cold, we thought we'd enjoy a cuppa 'on the quiet'. No such complete luck. Despite everything, there was still a queue, which took about 10 to 15 minutes to get through, and be served. Not quite what I remember of Starbucks in the US, but perhaps better - an excellent ambience, with a bewildering array of 'coffee's 'n stuff' to buy. The smell was of course exquisite, and this, together with the hissing and swishing of the coffee machinery, always puts me in a great frame of mind. The 'woody' atmosphere and shopfitting was superb, and I just loved the sculpted modernistic hardwood - backed chairs - who does such wonderful work - excellent ? And the coffee ? Yes.... pretty good, served in fully branded fashion - Starbucks everything - cups, serviettes, and all the other bits and pieces. Brilliant branding comes as standard ! We enjoyed the experience and will be back every now and again !

Starbucks - When will you have your first ?
