Decided to take the nieces and nephew here, but was a bit uneasy about how expensive the aquarium tickets now costed, but nonetheless went ahead as we were already there. Place looks quite cool inside, with lots of activities and animals to keep the kids entertained, they simply loved it, so much that we ended up spending a few hours there. Overall was a nice experience, although would definitely look for cheaper alternative in the future

    Hi

The family and I decided to go to the Aquarium, and were excited to see the variety of sea creatures as well as other animals. Very entertaining and conveniently located by the VnA Waterfront, with lots of activities to suit the entire family.

A bit on the pricey side but a trip worth going for. The kids absolutely loved seeing the variety of fishes and sea creatures, spent the whole afternoon here, and even I had a fun time, a place for both kids and adults

Hubby and I visited Cape Town for the Christmas holidays and we decided to spend our last day as tourists and went on the red bus tour which starts and ends at the V&A Waterfront. When we were done for the day, we got off the bus and walked not even 100m to the entrance of the aquarium and decided to try it out - part of the tourist experience yes?
The tickets were R140 each and the queue was very quick despite there being a lot of people in it. The first part of the aquarium hosts a number of smaller tanks along with a few larger tanks with some seriously incredible fish! There are little snippets of information for each of the fish and they are easily viewed in the tanks.
There was a "touch it" exhibit where you can put your hands into a tank and touch everything you can see from anemones to starfish and all sorts of other things. They had some very helpful young students manning the exhibit to ensure the safety of the exhibit.
There was also an outdoor section which had penguins and some other "non-fish" creatures which was lovely although a bit smelly. The main tank in the aquarium hosts massive yellow-fin tuna and a few scary looking sharks, and there is a half-tunnel that goes around that exhibit so we had a shark swim straight over us at one point.

Overall the aquarium is an absolutely fantastic experience! I think there are parts of it that are due for an upgrade as it's starting to look a bit old, but we really enjoyed ourselves and would recommend it to others travelling to Cape Town on holiday.

A really nice aquarium which is a great place to escape to if you have had enough of the shops. The V&A Waterfront is very busy and there are so many shops to see that you do not find elsewhere but there comes a time when you need time out and this is the place to go. Watch the fish swimming around, watch the penguins, walk through and see everything there is to see as you will not be sorry, this is a great place with a wide variety of ocean animals.

I loved immersing myself into the World of under the sea. This aquarium might not be as big as Ushakas in Durban but the fish quality is awesome and seeing the penguins running and diving is a spectacular sight. The pricing is a bit steep but it is well situated and very safe for children. I loved walking around and being able to have the touch and feel sensation was great - they have people allowing you to touch different sea animals so that you can feel what they feel like - don't worry this is very well controlled and no creatures were harmed or touched too much.

Wondering around inside the aquarium is always a fun thing to do. Safe for the kids and the adults can stand to learn a thing or two. Very informative and clean.
