After undergoing a huge operation and having to move house on 29th January 2018 I chose the removal company who offered us the best price. Now I understand why people say "you get what you pay for"..... Being two ladies, we relied on what Marthie (Christo's Transport) conveyed to us but telling us their workers have been with them for years, they are supervised, they cover your furniture with blankets etc etc. So even thought we were only moving 5km away, we were excited to get the move over and done with.
When the truck arrived, it looked like it was going to fall apart (that's how old it was), but nevertheless, we thought it's only 5km what could possibly go wrong? Upon arrival, the workers looked very unprofessional, no overall's and some smelled like they had been drinking.
They were very rough in moving our furniture out of the old house, that we had to tell them more than once to please be careful. One worker in particular kept asking if we can give him stuff, he wanted one of our televisions, then he asked for furniture and he wasn't impressed when we told him NO he can't have our stuff.
Eventually, the truck followed us to the new house, and they started to unpack. A lot of boxes and items we just told the guys to put in our store room outside as well as a wheelie bin which we put a lot of items in such as our extension cords, a lightning protector plug for our television, plus all out camping gear such as a brand new cadac 9kg gas bottle with all the fittings, nozzles etc, our skottel braai and the list goes on.
Our move took place on a monday and we had to be back at work on tuesday, so we didn't think much of anything at the time and knew that we could unpack as and when we get the time to do so.
Before the truck left, the driver was very anxious to leave. I had had a very big operation, and because this is supposed to be a "professional" removal company, the last thing you think of is climbing up an old 8 ton truck to make sure that Christo's removers "employees" are not stealing / hiding something on the truck.
    Boy were we wrong!!!!
By the next day, we noticed how some furniture items were scratched and there was a small tear in my leather lounge suite. We know this can happen during a move so we decided to make a big deal out of it.

But by the time the 1st weekend arrived we started noticing that things were missing. ALL our gardening equipment plus all our extension leads, the lightning protector plug for our television was gone - removed from our wheelie bin.
Then over this last weekend when we had more time to unpack, we realized our 9kg gas bottle, with nozzles & fittings, plus our skottel braai plus pillows and scatter cushions were missing.
When I brought this Christo's attention, he replied this morning by saying that it was just our unlucky day that day as he had so much work that he decided to use casual workers off the street to do our move..... he didn't know them from a bar of soap.
But he is sorry, it's just that it was our unlucky day!! WTF really!!!!!!
He also made it clear he will not take responsibility for any of our missing items.

Could somebody please assist me with getting legal assistance to take this matter further.

I'm sorry, you don't steal from your customers and then tell them SORRY IT WAS JUST YOUR UNLUCKY DAY!!!

PLEASE THIS IS A WARNING: DO NOT USE CHRISTO'S TRANSPORT - I have read other bad reviews about his company, and still chose to give them the benefit of the doubt. I am so hurt and disgusted by his services.

Don't let him steal from you as well.

It's almost like a syndicate: They steal from you to re-sell your stuff and make extra money on the side.

Two years ago, I was referred to this moving company by a friend. When I first saw the removal truck, I frowned and thought 'what am I in for". To my delight, the move was glitch free, quick and professional. These guys, put the stuff where I wanted to and even connected some of the big appliances for me. Definitely Kudos from me.
