When you make the effort of looking for reviews and then phoning a salon to ask who they’d recommend as their best stylist for curly hair, you’d think you’ve covered the basics.
It should also be pretty clear as to what you don’t want when you tell the stylist:
1. I don’t want short hair.
2. I don’t want a bob.
3. My hair either needs to be very long or very short but definitely not something in-between.
If the stylist then comments on how she understands and “Oh, does it usually end up in a bob?” and “yes, you need the weight and length”, then you feel pretty secure about letting them at it.
I had the misfortune of having my hair butchered at Cut in Shop 1, Main Road, Paarl by Carrie (not sure about the spelling but the name is apt if you see the horror.)
After she hacked off more than what I asked for I left Cut only to have to return about an hour later for her to try and fix the hideous bob that she in her wisdom decided to cut. “Oh, sorry, it’s difficult to see what your hair will look like before it’s dry.” Since this is not the first time I’ve ever had my hair cut I can safely say….Bullshit!
She then proceeded to hack off the rest of my hair to get rid of the bob and in a flash I went from having laidback surfer’s hair to corporate office boy.
I’ll be stuck with this for a while and to say I’m not happy would be a gross understatement.
Carrie, you are a hack. A blind man with a pair of garden shears would’ve done a better job and as far as I’m concerned “Cut” can change their name to another short three letter word.
