On e different days left home at 4am got there by 430. Dark n frightening experience but its the thing to do so that we get attended to. On Friday the 13th April 2018 off line the whole day so we left at 2pm. Monday 16th April 2018 again same story. Prior to that in the last week in March off line 4hours. So do the employees ever work as they are sitting while the poor hungry old n very young are waiting. Some have paid 500 rands to get first place to a man who books. The first 6 places with stools. They lost their money. Mr M Gigaba wat r u doing anout this come to the grass roots n see what we have to go through. I think if there is one server to DHA why only Prospection off line all the time while others are up n running.

I applied for my daughters unabridged birth certificate initially in January 2017 at the Prospecton Branch and it now January 2018 and I still have not received it. Since then I have made 3 applications again since it was not logged on the system the first time!
The queues are extremely long and it doesn't matter how long you've been there 3:30 is 3:30...
I've been there also 4 other separate occasions to try to apply for my sons id. Didn't even go in due to the 3:30 cutoff

    Ridiculous
The offices don't open on Saturday , or so I'm told, so time off work has been taken to attend to this....
this is worse than a government hospital.

How on earth will our kids get the documents required for school on time!

Seems like the service of government depts. are getting from bad to worse. Been to the Prospecton Home affairs twice. Stood in the cold since 5am in the cold I might add. Employees pitch up with no empathy and consideration for the pregnant, disabled or babies. As for the security guards they need to be trained on customer service and not how to allow their " chommies" in first. People arrive there from wee hours of the morning stand in queues and be treated like animals by both staff and security. Please do not ever attempt to go to the ladies its worse than a pig stye. Poor elderly ladies have to bear and hold because these toilets are a sight for sore eyes. Will these home affairs employees or security guards subject themselves to such conditions. Please do something

Went to Isipingo Prospection Branch last week Friday the 18 September 2015. Wasted my time and my daughters time where she had to miss a day of school and I had to miss a day of work. We sat outside in the freezing cold and rain arrived about 6:30 with many other people some with babies. Only for officials to open the doors at 08:05 and to be told we have to go to another home affairs maybe Pinetown or CBD, because the computers were stolen a week before. I mean this happened an entire week ago and not even a sign to inform the people. They are slow, rude and don,t give a continental sh@# about the people waiting. There is no system in place at all. They need a damn wake up call and they don't even deserve a 1 it should be 0.

Pity there is no 0 for each rating as the Prospecton branch would of got them all. They completely suck. Not sure if I really care if they are not trained properly as there staff are so rude and arrogant and they need to lose their chip on their shoulders. Don't know why they even bother to have queue's for different divisions as they are fruitless and you waste your entire day. Enuff said, they are worth #nomorewords

Renewing a passport, getting an unabridged birth certificate, getting an ID book, whatever you need, it seems like an impossible task at this Home Affairs!!! If you go to the counter that states passports, you are guaranteed that the person behind that counter does not do passports and will make you wait in another long queue to go to the correct person. Nothing is in order, nobody knows their job and you WILL wait there in numerous queues for the entire day. There is no quick in and out, and they steal cars there too so you are on edge the entire day. Once you actually get the correct person the next step is another disaster - the teller who you have to pay has gone on lunch/tea;/breakfast or just a break and the camera for the passports is forever broken. Do yourself a favour and go to Park Rynie Scottburgh where you will get done what needs to be done in a safe and secure area with great staff.

If I could have rated a zero here I would have. I waited from 6.30am in line until 4pm and did not even make it inside the Home Affairs office.

There were no queue marshalls to direct people, just a lady who came out to assign numbers to people, I was second last with the number 79. I have been to both Umgeni Rd and Tongaat branches previously were I was assigned numbers into the 100s and yet still done and home by 1pm. At around 2pm, I asked to speak to a supervisor as the queue was not moving and I had been there already 7.5 hours. I was told it was not his problem how long I have been waiting and if I leave now I will have to follow the queue another day. He also told me that if I wanted a pass-out to come back another day and be first in line, I would have to wait until 4pm. So I, along with the scores of other people who also had not even made it inside the office, sat patiently and waited. At 15.50 he walked back out and said their systems are offline and it will be offline in the weekend so we must come back another day. I cannot afford that as I have to leave work each time and so I asked to come back on Saturday, to which he replied that I only get one chance, he is sure the system will be offline but I can do what I want, and then signed my ticked. For 9+ hours I sat in filth, with toilets that were flooded and emitting a foul smell - completely unusable, the elderly, the babies, mums carrying their tired and hungry kids, we were ignored and treated like we were being done a favor. I am appalled at the service we recieved and the conditions we waited in. Only to be told we must pay for transport to come back another day. At this point, I am paying more to travel to Home Affairs repeatedly than I am paying for this ID application.

On Saturday 25 April 2015 my husband, son and myself stood in the que from 3h45 am to make sure we get finalised with my sons id book and passport. Offices opened at 8h30 and staff were rude and unapproachable. We were first but only left at 10h30. We completed and signed and were finger printed 6 times for my son's id book and passport and only to be told that the system is not accepting one of the parents consent. Nobody could assist and we were told that somebody would contact me on Tuesday 28/4 to sort the problem out. No body has bothered to contact us and I have phoned the Prospecton office numerous times and no one answers. I then phoned Home Affairs customer care line to be told that if the consultants are busy they do not answer the phones and I must go back and stand in the que to sort the problem out. My husband and I work for a living and can only go to home affairs every 2nd Saturday as we work on Saturday's. How can no one know what is going on...How can no one answer the phones. This is pathetic service as we need my son's id book and passport.
The staff make it feel as if you owe them something and could not be bothered in service excellence.
I wonder if anybody will even respond to my complaint.

Waited with highly pregnant sister. She had to wait to change her incorrectly spelt name on marriage certificate. This was done by an obviously inept official at prospecton. We waited almost two hours in hot and stuffy rooms. Everyone can see how slow the officials go through the work often leaving their offices for 30 minutes or so without a word to the quese waiting in line very patiently. Poor service and awful attitude from staff.

I went to Prospecton Home Affairs to apply for a new ID after I lost my old one. To my surprise I waltzed in to a huge queue with no queue marshal or at least a concerned admin clerk to assist. After 3 hrs of waiting one lady without a nametag shows up and announces that they will only take 100 people. The queue had what seemed like 150 people. She started dishing out numbers. And she was unsympathetic to the elderly that were in the queue. All this is happening while we have been watching them going in and out of the offices to either buy food or smoke. We asked fir a Senior Manager on-site and were told with such rudeness he is not around.

The is clearly no work ethics in that office. And what happened to Batho Pele principles such as Access to information, redress, etc. This Department was doing much better when it was headed by Minister Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma. They were attentive and compassionate Because we had a line to report bad service on and she made spot visits and spoke to people.

That office has modern technology that makes everything fast but the staff is on a go-slow. They lack people skills and customer service skills. Rumour has it that some people bribe their way in the office to prevent being on queues. The building and restrooms are in dilapidated state. Health and Safety Act does not allow this. There is no proper waiting area.

PLEASE RESPOND TO THIS IMMEDIATELY or else I will have to escalate this further with the proof I have of the place...

To put it plainly - there is no quality of information, no efficiency, no professionalism and no service!!!
Firstly nobody answers the phone when you call, secondly when you go there you get told that there is a good chance your car will be stolen by the time you come out and thirdly once you are inside nobody knows what they are doing, half the staff are asleep, the other half totally ignore you. You go to the correct queue, but by the time you get to the front, that person is either going on lunch, or going for tea and you get sent to another queue. It is ridiculous how inefficient this place is.

    A nightmare

To put it plainly - there is no quality of information, no efficiency, no professionalism and no service!!!
Firstly nobody answers the phone when you call, secondly when you go there you get told that there is a good chance your car will be stolen by the time you come out and thirdly once you are inside nobody knows what they are doing, half the staff are asleep, the other half totally ignore you. You go to the correct queue, but by the time you get to the front, that person is either going on lunch, or going for tea and you get sent to another queue. It is ridiculous how inefficient this place is.

Hi i have applied for a passport on the 07 January 2015. Today is the 10 Febuary 2015 and i have not got the passport yet.I am going on holiday on the 20 Febuary 2015. what happens to the money that i have paid for the holiday if my passport is not ready. Home affairs also beats around the bush with me last week when i called they told me the passport i ready when i go to the home affairs its not. I was told that it will take 24 day for my passport to be ready. They then tell me that my money will be lost and can not help me.

Nobody knows what the hell the are doing. Get people that get work and know their job who can help you.

    Thanks
