I played this course last week, during the heaviest spell of rain in 14 years. I was amazed at the condition of the course and the drainage.

Jo'burg's finest. If this is not ranked in the top 10 courses in South Africa, something must be wrong with the rankings. Even though you may find an aircraft or two flying above you, the golfing experience is not affected. Some of the best fairways and greens but the halfway house is the best. Staff are welcoming and friendly. The Par 5 8th and Par 3 9th are amongst the best holes in golf.

If ever there is a club that deserves 5 stars, it's Serengeti. The course is in amazing condition. The staff are welcoming. Some spectacular golfing holes and of course the halfway is a treat. Got my vote for the best in Gauteng.

I think you will have to search far and wide to find a finer golfing experience. Having played a few of the finest rated courses in the world, it is my belief that this experience ranks amongst the best in the world. We played here on Sunday and the course was in amazing condition. Staff are friendly and welcoming. The golf pro's and director understand what's required to make a truely memorable experience. No wonder this is the home of the South African Open. Keep up the great work!!

We played this course on Christmas Eve and it was a treat. The course is in an amazing condition with a few incredible holes, like the par 5 8th. This hole has an island green and I had to try to get on for 2 - 200m into the wind and I missed the green by 1 meter on the right. The best part of this experience was the half-way house breakfast.

There is nothing more gratifying for an amateur golfer that playing a golf course that has 2 drivable par 4s. Holes number 2 and 17 at Serengeti give a fairly long hitter a chance to land for one. But therein ends the joy of conquering this fairly new lush course on the East Rand of Johannesburg off the R21 Highway.

Once you have landed on the green on any hole of Serengeti, the real test begins. The greens are huge right, but to say they are tricky would be a grave understatement. They undulate and they are very quick. It is no wonder that with such championship-type greens, Serengeti has just won the right to host SA's oldest golf tournament, the SA Open for 2011 and 2012.

Lush with unusual Bermuda grass, the fairways are inviting, but so are the numerous bunkers that have become the signature of Jack Nicklaus design. If you play Serengeti and you do not find at least one fairway bunker (and many green side bunkers) maybe it is time you considered the Sunshine Tour.

Having said that, the course is not that difficult. One still has a chance to score (with lots of luck).

As a new course and nestled in an estate, it is to be expected that it has modern and good facilities. And that is the case at Serengeti. The clubhouse, the pro-shop and the halfway house, all complimented by a generous driving range, make Serengeti one of the top and certainly most sought after club to play in South Africa.
