Dinner with some close friends turned out quite a lovely experience. Being halaal, there wasn't a variety to choose from but the fish turned out to be divine. The service was good. I also appreciated the decor, made for good dining.
I had lunch at DW 11-13 on Saturday 17th November 2012 with three of my friends. The wine was great and the starters were awesome. Everything was going well until the main course arrived. I had ordered their stuffed chicken, and unfortunately their stuffing wasn't rinsed properly and it felt like I was biting into spinach immersed in sand! I called the Manager (short blonde guy) and told him that the spinach was not properly rinsed because it felt like I was biting into sand. Instead of being apologetic, the Manager attacked me with words and refused to accept that the spinach that I just had, wasn't properly rinsed. I tried explaining to him that I wasn't complaining just for the sake of complaining, but that their stuffing was honestly not rinsed properly.
I feel like the Manager needs more grooming, especially in terms of dealing with customers. His approach was in poor taste, and frankly I expect better from a high-end restaurant like DW eleven-13. He stood there for 10 minutes defending the spinach when I was the one that had it! All he did to address my complaint was try to make me out into a liar and I did not appreciate that. Again, I did not appreciate his attitude!!
After trying for about eight months, I have given up on visiting the establishment. The answer is always "there is nothing I can do" there is no willingness to try and accommodate, to perhaps take details in case there is a cancellation, late table etc.
I refuse to plan what I will be eating for lunch or dinner in two weeks time. I am wondering if it is not the policy of the restaurant, after-all, it is not the only nice restaurant in Johannesburg and the rest of the places are quite accommodating.
It's been a couple of months since we last visited this restaurant and it is one of the finest that you will find in Johannesburg. The Menu is limited to a few dishes but the Salmon was perfectly prepared. The waiters are all well trained and ensure that you evening is made special. I'm not sure who owns this place...well done and keep up the great experience!
