    North Beach (Durban) in Durban
Situated north of the harbour and bluff, in between Bay of Plenty and Dairy Beach. North Beach is one of the main beaches in Durban and is cared for by the Durban Surf Lifesaving Club. The clubhouse features prominently on the Marine Parade. The beach itself is flanked by two large piers and is accessible from the Marine Parade that stretches along the Golden Mile.

ONe of the preferred beaches in DBN. Love the upgrades and the vibe.

felt safe with enough visible lifeguards. NEat and clean shops and felicities. Was good going there with kids, we all had a good time and was very happy and incident free.

There is a lot you can do besides the beach as well. Safe walkways to police patrolling.

Well looked after, always clean, safe and has the best swim conditions. This is a beach for family outings, be it riding your bicycles, going for an early morning run, walking your dogs or having a sunrise breakfast. North Beach is always abuzz with the laughter of children and people everywhere, friendly and full of fun with activities to keep you busy all day.

North Beach is generally safe for everyone because of all the crowds of people going there to enjoy sun, surf, cycling, jogging or just walking along the promenade. It is kept clean and the only time you keep away is over Christmas and New Years when it is virtually impossible to get even close. Throughout the rest of the year this is a perfect place for family outings, great places to stop for drinks and meals, plenty to do and the swim conditions is fantastic!!!

This is one of the busiest beaches in Durban and so much fun and activity going on. You can cycle along the promenade, take your dogs for walks, have a jog or just walk on the pier and enjoy the incredible view. The surf conditions are ideal for professional surfers as well as those still learning to surf. Durban beaches have the luxury of being protected by the Bluff so most of the time the surf conditions are perfect. There are plenty of restaurants to stop at on your way, a great outing for a family. Safe, secure, always full of people ambling along the promenade and lots of parking.

I really enjoy Durban’s North beach, this is by far the most popular beach in my opinion on Durban’s “Golden Mile” and is certainly my best beach to visit. The vibe is awesome, there is always some great waves which make it ideal for surfers, long boarders and the swimmers ” body surfers” to enjoy.

Then you have my favourite which are the piers I love walking along the pier while pushing my son in his wheelchair he seems to enjoy it so much, the piers are also popular for the fisherman and the lazy surfer who walks to the end and jump off into the water even though it is prohibited.

The Life guards are always on duty during the day to ensure every bodies safety, I even witnessed them chase a walker up out of the water as it was not a demarcated swimming area which I thought strange as the person was not swimming but walking along the water’s edge.
Being on the Durban’s Golden mile there is more than enough eating places to visit if you are hungry, for some reason I feel safer walking along this beach than the South beach as there is always seems to be a policeman close by.

Well it just works out perfectly as my fiance goes fishing on the pier, I go lay on the beach and my son goes to the skate park - we are all virtually in one straight line on North Beach - I absolutely love it. The promenade has been done up so nicely too, it is clean and safe and I spend many a weekend laying on North Beach.

Durban, known as South Africa's playground, is home to North beach, one of the most stunning beaches in the country. With beautiful, safe waters in which to swim, an expanse of sandy heaven on which to sunbathe, and a number of piers off which one can choose to surf, fish or just admire the beautiful ocean, this spot is a relaxing area at which one can enjoy the blessings that nature has gifted us with. To keep our tummys happy while our eyes are feasting on the wonders of nature, you have the option of a number of eating houses including Debonairs for a chilled out pizza snack, some ice cream or waffles on that warm summers day from Waffle Express, or even a fully fledged meal at My Diner. One can go on the cable cars for a spectacular view of the beach front area, there are permanent funfair rides for the kids, and rickshaws for those that want to experience traditional travel in Durban. Guaranteed fun for the entire family!

This is a beach that I frequent most often; it's one of the busiest beaches in KZN. The swimming conditions and surfing conditions are great. North Beach is also a hit with tourists. Life guards are always present so you don't need to worry too much. The area around the beach has been upgraded recently and I must say the results are breathtaking!
