    Ramsgate Beach in Margate
Ramsgate Beach is located in the KwaZulu South Coast town of Ramsgate. It is a beautiful blue flag beach with life guards. The lagoon is picturesque and worth spending a few hours paddle-skiing. The Indian ocean is always warm and perfect swimming conditions all year round.   If you've visited the Ramsgate Beach recently, tell us about your experience by posting a Review.

Great beach although finding parking can be tricky in peak season. Toilet facilities are decent and it's a great beach for kids with paddle boats in the lagoon and fish in the little tidal pools along the beach. The Waffle House being nearby is a bonus too.

Always clean and well maintained. There are lots of amenities with a very good restaurant nearby. Most of the activities are located on the beach and the lagoon.

This is one of my best beaches. I enjoy the surf here, the lifeguards are always on the lookout. The best is after a day in the sun and the sea you go then go and enjoy a waffle at the waffle hut!!! Also the ladies selling their gifts and trinkets don't bug you as you are free to wander through their stalls at your own pace and if you do not want to walk through you don't have to!!!

Although you have to be careful of the currents at Ramsgate, you can visit the Waffle House, buy "goodies" from the vendors, eat ice creams, see all the star fish and anemones in the rock pools, watch people catching crayfish etc. etc. The sea is just beautiful to swim in as long as you are careful!!

Ramsgate is a holiday must if you find yourself at the South Coast. We make a religious trip to the Waffle house and then have a swim at the beach (after walking through the market of course)... They have a new viewing deck now which is great for whale spotting when they're visiting the South Coast. Lovely place!

I suppose I am an African beast through and through and love most spots in this bountiful country of ours!
Summer sunshine, long, warm days and a couple of cocktails watching the sun setting behind the inky blue sea is what could some up this awesome part of the world.
Ramsgate offers all the above and a lot more. It is a pretty, lush part of the world - growing up holidaying at different spots all along the coast of South Africa makes me a privileged and happy individual. These days I do holidaying in Cape Town more often than not, but Ramsgate still conjures up warm swims in the night, safe beaches manned by sexy blond lifeguards that all teenage (and older girls) drool over. You have not lived until you have sunk your toes in the golden sand of Ramsgate, drooled over the lifeguards, haggled with the bead sellers, and caught a golden tan in the December holidays. mmmmm Give me Ramsgate every time every day. A bit crowded over Christmas and New year so if you are able to make it at another time even better, but if you are young, footloose and fancy free this is the perfect spot!!

I personally prefer the Margate main beach as it is more festive and there are more people.

The Ramsgate beach is still very enjoyable and it is in a fairly decent area. At times it can still get festive which is nice. The water, when I was there was clean and the life guards did their job properly..

A great, clean beach 'venue' with changerooms, lifeguards, tearooms (including of course the legendary 'Waffle House'), parking (and guards) and 'flea market' (traditional trinkets and beach goodies), & lagoon with paddleboats - well deserving of it's Blue Flag status. The Achilles Heel is that I have often encountered 'rough' suft conditions / a 'steep' beach, with strong backwash / rip current - not too cool for young family swimming !?!

Just next door to Margate, I find Ramsgate less busy, which is probably why I find it more relaxing. I don't know if its a fact, but it seems to me that there are mostly tourists, so doesn't matter which time of the year you visit, it's always got that tourist feel, but then again, I feel that's the case along the entire coastline ;-)

I find the accommodation better than what I've seen or stayed at in Margate, at a more affordable price too.

Another great beach in South Africa. If had many fond memories of vacations in and around this area. The lagoon is fantastic, water is warm and people generally friendly. Food/restauarant prices in the area are decent but it helps to carry a picnic basket. There paddle ski's which you can hire for a short trip up the lagoon.
