Emirates has to rank as the best airline. The staff are well trained and provide a superior experience. They can increase the range of snacks.

Front desk experience was wonderful, the flight was on time and the time in the queue is extremely well organised but the inflight experience was terrible!!! We flew Durban to Dubai with a 6 hour layover in Dubai (Emirates did provide us with meal vouchers for the layover which was really great). After 8 hours of being dreadfully cramped, 6 hours at an airport was not what I wanted. The inflight cabin crew were not at all friendly, the seats are cramped and really small with barely enough room for your legs, the TV's are not of good quality and the food took 3 and a half hours to arrive, with not even being offered something to drink before dinner was served. It is very important to stay well hydrated on a long flight and from what I have heard about other airlines your get offered water and fresh juice at regular intervals but Emirates fails to do this. From Dubai to Istanbul was a four and a half hour flight, food again served just before we landed, no drinks offered beforehand, luckily you get water with your meal. I noticed that the vegetarians got their food just after take-off and then they got the normal food as well because by the time that came around they were finished with their food. Nobody came to fetch the trays after the meal - space is so limited and then you still have to sit with your tray out in front of you. Most passengers, us included, took our own trays to the kitchen so that we could at least be a little bit more comfortable.
Istanbul back to Dubai was the absolute worst flight. The aircon was on so high I was shivering. I had to ask 3 times for a blanket before I got one (no blankets were given on takeoff as is the norm, and I got my blanket half an hour before landing so it was really unpleasant), food once again was served late, no drinks brought around, even coffee and tea we had to wait for over 3 hours!!! My chair reclined but did not stay reclined unless I pushed against it (not easy to relax like that), my TV stopped working everytime I touched it (trying to change channels), my earphones were so crackly I could not hear anything and being at the back of the plane I could see the crew just sitting around and talking, nobody was interested in the passengers at all!!!
Emirates has always been known as "the best airline" but I am afraid to say that it is not an airline I would readily choose again. Your inflight experience is the bulk of your time with Emirates and they are terrible!!! I know their prices are good but do you really want in total 24+ hours of flying time to be uncomfortable? Emirates needs to step up their game.
I must add that my flight from Dubai to Durban was completely different, so at least I had 1 out of 3 that was good. The crew brought drinks around every half an hour, they were friendly and the food came timeously, so if they can be good on one flight why can they not be good on all their flights?

My first flight on Emirates Airlines was to Barcelona via Dubai and I must say I was disappointed. So were my family that was travelling with me.
Firstly, let me start with the pros: I was really impressed with their flight prices and no other airlines flying to the destination could match or come close to Emirates Airline prices. We proceeded check and there were sufficient check in counters. The staff were ok, not too friendly as I have seen with other airlines but the overall check in process was good and quick. It was our first connecting flight so I had to ask the person to explain how it worked when we got off in Dubai, etc. The flight to Dubai was nothing to brag about and service was ok, food could have been better. The staff in general were friendly.
The cons:The connecting flight to Barcelona, I found the in-flight experience was worse.the seats were uncomfortable and we could not sleep, the overall space felt limited and squashed on the flight we were on. Our return flight was not promising either and we left with similar feelings as many passengers. The in flight experience, staff and food was terrible. With food, everyone has different tastes/palates. But when it comes to service and several passengers complaining then you know its not just you being fussy. One of the passengers in front of me called a staff attendant and asked to speak to the cabin manager. He explained to the manager that he flies many times with Emirates and this is the first flight he can see that there is something different, he complained about one of the attendants, he complained about poor/lack of service and attention, etc. The manager did apologise and before he could go off, some passengers requested he come to the back of the plain as well. Not sure whether it was to complain or not, but when the manager came back he closed the curtains to where the attendants where and gave them a talk.I share the same feeling with service, as we requested beverages on 2 occasions, first it was when we were served our meals, we were told that the lady in front had what we wanted and we would get it shortly. The second time, we requested for something. Both times, after time ticked on and waiting, we asked 2 other attendants and was told they will assist to no avail. Over an hour later we finally stopped yet another attendant and mentioned that we were waiting and even our meals were finished and only then she go over and get it for us.It took them a long while to clear the meal trays,on one occasion one of the passengers got up to go to the toilet, he had his tray in his hand and the attendant just walked passed him without collecting it, he had to put tray back by his seat. We wanted to relax/sleep but our tray tables were not cleared timeously. It's.It's these things that show how poor service was on the flight but it seemed to be the trend on our flights from and too Dubai. I must say that service from SA to Dubai, and Dubai to SA was definitely much better and the attendants friendlier. On coming back home, we all were very disappointed with our flights service and comfort, and don't think we will opt to fly with Emirates anytime soon. It's good that the prices are cheaper, but when you on a long trip the in-flight experience plays an important role in your holiday as well.

After hearing so much about Emirates I was really excited to fly with them, but from the beginning I was not impresses, the time in the queue took forever, the front desk experience was like being questioned by a Police Officer and made one feel like criminals. The flight was delayed and we had to sit and wait on hard uncomfortable chairs. Inflight experience was not what I expected, we had to wait for hours before being served anything to eat or drink, the plane was so full and cramped that even just going to the toilet was something one tried to avoid as the queues there were very long. I know it is a busy airline but they should be more prepared for fully booked seats and make sure their passengers are comfortable and well hydrated.

As with most international flights there is always a long wait in the queue, at the front desk and when boarding, I suppose this can be expected with such a large airline but perhaps they should acquire more ground staff to ease the queues?
Inflight there is not a lot to do except try to sleep and watch the TV. We waited forever to get dinner served and by that time we were so tired we could not enjoy our food. I do think they should change their times of serving food as you keep yourself awake waiting for food which takes forever to arrive.
Besides that it is a very comfortable airline and the trip was without any problems.

I traveled on Emirates recently. While the aircraft was modern and the entertainment was good, the service could have been better - and when I received my suitcases at my destination, the locks had been broken and the zippers damaged. All I got from Emirates was an apology. See more here: http://inafricaandbeyond.com/2015/02/emirates-vs-qatar-airways

Emirates is one of my favourite airlines, however on my last trip the standards seem to be dropping. From having issues with the seating, even after an online check in, forgetting a wheelchair, being served food way to late and even running out of food. I was terribly disappointed and hope it was a once off bad experience never to be repeated.

I recently flew to Chennai via Emirates. It's really difficult to be patriot to SAA when the flights are 10% more expensive than Emirates and you have a 6 hour stop-over in Mumbai. I'd much prefer, having a 2-3 hour stop-over in Dubai. The airport is much nicer. The inflight experience was good but on my return, the crew was not as pleasant and focused on customer service. Something to watch in the future.

Overall, it was a pleasant flight.

It is often my choice of airline! i love stopping over at the dubai airport, you can shop and eat and buy the yummiest chocolates!! their ICE in-flight entertainment keeps me going throughout the flight not forgetting their delectable cuisine and mouth watering desserts!

Emirates is supposed to be a quality airline, but i was highly disappointed with the service i received.

I have sat on Emirates flights a good few times, and each time i had terrible luck with very unfriendly, arrogant, obnoxious air hostesses.

Seats in front of me w re also torn and seats squeaked all the way from Dubai to JHB. Terrible flight, Terrible Cabin, Pathetic Cabin Crew Members.

    Huge disappointment

We flew Emirates in December Durban to Dubai & Dubai to Houston, return.
It was a long but awesome experience.
The crew was professional & almost on the ball although when we left Durban my husbands sound on his screen was not working & they did try to fix it but it was a technical fault so he was left with no inflight entertainment for the flight to ubai, thank goodness it was not the 16.5 hour flight we had to houston.
All in all Emirates provided us with a good, comfortable flying experience especially with it been my 3 year old's first international flight!

    Comfy Flight!
